Opportunities to support the Honors College

Honors has been the cornerstone of recruiting and educating the most academically talented students at UMD since 1966. With the creation of new and exciting living-learning programs, the Honors College is well equipped to provide an enriching and challenging education for UMD’s most exceptional students.

Donations to the Honors College are used to support academic and extracurricular enrichment opportunities for our students, including events for those in our living-learning programs. This is a great way to support a rigorous and engaging education for Maryland’s top students.

Give to specific Honors College living-learning programs

  • Advanced Cybersecurity Experience for Students (ACES) – Support scholarships, professional development, participation in national competitions and academic enrichment for outstanding students who will be the nation’s future leaders in the important interdisciplinary field.
  • Design Cultures & Creativity (DCC) – Support the exciting initiatives of this vibrant program that explores the historical, theoretical, technological and political side of computing, creativity and culture.
  • Gemstone (GEMS)
    • GEMS program – Support students from diverse majors in the development of research and teamwork as they interactively examine multidisciplinary issues at the interface of science, technology and society.
    • GEMS scholarship – Support scholarships for students in the Gemstone Program.
  • Honors Global Communities (HGLO) – Support the initiatives of this program that introduces students to the the knowledge and skills that empower them to take advantage of opportunities and wrestle with challenges related to globalization and data science.
  • Honors Humanities (HH) – Support innovative learning initiatives that prepare students passionate for humanities and creative arts to investigate some of the most fundamental and important questions facing humanity today.
  • Integrated Life Sciences (ILS) – Help inspire, educate, and launch the careers of the most talented students interested in life sciences, including biological research and biomedicine.
  • Interdisciplinary Business Honors (IBH) – Support initiatives that allow students to combine access to cutting-edge professional and technical business skills with broader thinking about the role of business in the world and in relation to multiple academic fields.
  • University Honors (UH)
    • UH program – Support academic and extracurricular enrichment opportunities in the UH Program, the most flexible and enduring of the Honors College living-learning programs.
    • UH scholarship – Help to close the gap for students with financial need. The Honors College works with the Office of Student Financial Aid to identify University Honors students who are most worthy of these need-based scholarships. This is a current-use scholarship fund—i.e., all donations to this fund will be awarded to students in the same fiscal year.
