Information for Newly Admitted Students
The Honors College at the University of Maryland welcomes newly admitted students! The next steps to join the Honors College community are:
Students should tell the Honors College which living-learning programs (LLP) interest them most by February 17, 2020. *Please choose your LLP carefully; transferring to another LLP is not guaranteed.
Students should complete and submit their Honors College Preference Form in their Coalition account by February 17, 2020.
Confirm enrollment and apply for housing by May 1, 2020
Students must confirm their enrollment and apply for housing by May 1, 2020. Every new first-year student who desires to live in campus residence halls must complete the 2020-2021 Campus Housing and Dining Agreement by May 1 to be eligible to live on campus. This includes Honors College students. The housing agreement can be found at www.reslife.umd.edu by selecting the "Apply for Housing" button on the top right of the page. Missing the May 1 deadline may impact a student's ability to secure on-campus housing.
Register for orientation
Students should register for orientation with the Orientation Office. Students must attend a two-day orientation program in the summer to build their fall schedules. The Honors College invites newly admitted students to attend Honors Orientation, but students also have the option to attend a regular orientation. Honors Orientation is scheduled for June 15-16, June 25-26, and July 15-16.
Sign up for an optional summer adventure trip
Students are encouraged to sign up for an optional summer adventure trip with their Honors College classmates! The Honors College has partnered with the Office of Outdoor Recreation to host kayaking, backpacking, and canoeing camping trips for incoming Honors College students. The trips are a fantastic and fun opportunity for students to meet and bond with other incoming honors students.
Refer to the Admitted Fall Freshman Checklist for more information about dining options, financial aid, transfer credit, and other important enrollment items.
