HOUSING
Anne Arundel Hall is the "headquarters" of the Honors Program, housing 100 students (from first-year students to seniors); providing offices for Honors staff and advisors; and hosting a scholar-in-residence, an art gallery, the Portz library, seminar rooms, study facilities, and lounges. Other Honors students live and study together in Denton, Queen Anne's , Ellicott (Gemstone) and Wicomico (Honors Humanities) Halls. A year-long calendar of lectures, forums, performances, and other events provides opportunities for Honors students to develop strong ties in this vibrant intellectual community. All Honors students have access to all Honors buildings and are encouraged to use the facilities and programs available there.
Upper-class students may be interested in apartment-style housing in South Campus Commons. These apartments (mostly 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, living room, and laundry; some 2 bedroom units; a few 1 bedroom units) are beautiful, and many Honors students choose to live in the Commons for their final years on campus.
Living in the Honors community can provide you with a unique opportunity to interact with students from every discipline and background. Out of class contact with faculty is encouraged. The shared cultural events and study rooms create a comfortable and stimulating atmosphere in which to explore the whole world of ideas.
