BLACK HONORS CAUCUS

President's Message

My name is Aleya Fraser and I am the President of the University of Maryland Black Honors Caucus for the 2008-2009 school year. On behalf of the Black Honors Caucus I would like to welcome you to both the University of Maryland and the Honors Program. The Black Honors Caucus aims to support and promote the unity and development of Black students within the University Honors Program. Through our various meetings, events, and activities BHC serves as a vessel for black honors students and black students at large to interact and engage with one another. While the Black Honors Caucus was specifically created to serve as a support organization for black honors students we openly welcome both honors and non-honors students and students of all races and nationalities. Some of our signature events include the Welcome Back Cookout, Annual Campuswide Diversity Forum, Black Jeopardy, and Study Day Finals Breaks. We also participate in various community service and social action activities throughout the school year.

Hope all is well. Peace and blessings.

Aleya Fraser

"The Honors program has such a community spirit, bringing all different kinds of students together. Be it for a guest lecture or to share some ice cream, you always have friends to talk to in Honors." - Kristen Essig '07
