News Flash: Maryland’s unique Federal Semester Program is anticipating the award of a congressionally-directed grant for 2009-2010! With this grant, participants will be named Federal Service Fellows, awarded stipends, and offered opportunities to apply for graduate fellowships in public policy. Workshops and opportunities are being enhanced through new partnerships across Washington. Rising juniors and seniors of all majors are encouraged to apply. There are still openings in all three concentrations. For details and application form, go to www.federalsemester.umd.edu.

In the fall, take one of three Federal Semester seminars: U.S. Policy in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, Homeland Security Policy, or Federal Health Policy. In the spring, engage in a Washington internship for college credit. Guidance is provided on securing and participating in internships. Possibilities include federal agencies, congressional offices, think tanks, advocacy organizations, and other approved organizations. Activities include workshops, trips to Capitol Hill and federal agencies, and conversations with leaders of public policy.
